WHAT WAS ONE YEAR IN LA?

Beginning in January, 2004, artist David E. Stone undertook an ambitious exhibition project in Los Angeles, California.

ONE YEAR IN LA consisted of 12 exhibitions of David E. Stone's work.  Most of the shows were held in an exhibition space at 2121 North San Fernando Road in the Glassel Park area of Los Angeles.

THE BACKGROUND STORY THAT LEAD TO ONE YEAR IN LA

David E. Stone's work is conceptual and concerned with perceptions of reality.  The work is eclectic in nature and employs a variety of media.

Due to the visual variety of Stone's work, one exhibition of his work would not adequately inform a viewer as to his artistic concerns, methods or iconographic vocabulary.  Therefore, it seemed appropriate for Stone to develop this forum to provide a comprehensive opportunity to experience his work.

WHY LOS ANGELES?

After developing the concept for this year long project, the next concern was finding the appropriate location to conduct this exhibition project.   Based on the monthly themes that Stone has selected to be included, it became apparent that Los Angeles was the perfect choice over other art world destinations.
